REV BILL CREWS

Picture

Australian Living Treasure Rev Bill Crews has been fighting for the poor, homeless and needy for almost 50 years. Starting off with the street kids, drug addicted and homeless of Kings Cross in the 1970s. In the 1980s he moved to the Ashfield Uniting Church where in 1989 his Exodus Foundation opened the now famous Loaves and Fishes free restaurant.

Once again, the homeless and poor flocked. Soon Bill also had mobile food vans reaching out to where the poor were. Nowadays thousands of free meals are served every week to those in need, along with free dental, medical and social services. These medical and social services now travel to other areas in a specialised van.

The only thing that has changed since the onset of Covid is meticulous checks and social distancing. The numbers and need have increased.
